Musica Copa 2014 wrap

Friday December 5 saw 16 Australian music industry companies and spectators head down to KIKOFF Soccer Centre Fraser Park for the second Musica Copa charity five-a-side football tournament.  FourFourTwo Brand Manager, Adam Jackson, who laced his boots up for the InTheMix team, gives us a run down on the blood, sweat and beers from the 2014 event.

Two hundred-plus spectators, 128 players, 16 teams, $12,000 in prize money, countless beers and one stinking hangover Saturday morning!  Oh and a few winners too, with bookies favourite Sweat it Out taking the glory, securing back-to-back championships.

In an incredible re-match of the 2013 Grand Final, reigning champions Sweat It Out lined up against the old enemy ONELOVE (who competed as Stereosonic last year), having beaten Mushroom and MTV respectively in the Semi Finals.

True to form, the combined team of Sweat It Out x Maker featuring star players What So Not and Motez, claimed a second championship victory in a row to retain the Musica Copa title and win a whopping $5,000 for their chosen charity, St Vincent De Paul Society.

As runners-up, ONELOVE secured $4,000 for their nominated charity Beyond Blue, while MTV claimed $3,000 for their charity Ted Noffs Foundation - having narrowly beaten Mushroom to win 3rd Place.

"Musica Copa 2014 came home strong," said event organisers Paul Stix (UNDR ctrl) and Martin Novosel (Purple Sneakers).

"The level of sport, enthusiasm and friendship was so high both on and off the pitch, and it was our total pleasure to bring the music industry together for a second year and raise such a significant amount of money for charity. We feel very humbled and excited for next year already!"
