Adelaide football fans who missed out on witnessing the 2015 AFC Asian Cup in Australia will get the chance to see the trophy at Saturday’s A-League fixture at Coopers Stadium.
The Socceroos claimed their most significant piece of silverware in its history, with a 2-1 extra-time final win over South Korea in Sydney last month.
Both Adelaide and Perth, cities of more than 1.2 million people, missed out on Asian Cup matches, which were hosted in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra and Newcastle.
However, FourFourTwo understands that the Asian Cup trophy will be presented prior to Saturday’s A-League fixture against Western Sydney Wanderers in Adelaide.
United and the FFA are working through the logistics of Saturday’s trophy presentation, but it is likely to be similar to when put on show prior to the Melbourne derby earlier this month.
The FFA confirmed they are looking at a wide variety of appearances with the continental crown around Australia.
The news will also hearten Perth supporters who missed out on Asian Cup action during the January event.comments
