Adelaide United v Brisbane Roar: Player Ratings

Brisbane Roar claimed the points on the road on Friday night against Adelaide United and FourFourTwo's James Hetherington assessed each individual player's performance.

Adelaide United

Fabio Ferreira                                 6.5

Had some great runs down the right wing and constantly got the ball into dangerous spots.

Bruce Djite                                       6.0

Showed strength as always and had a few shots, but nothing too major. Did great to set up Cirio in the 58th.

Sergio Cirio                                      5.5

Cirio had a pretty decent game by all standards but that missed chance in the 58th minute cost the team a point. Needed to do better.

Isaias                                                 5.5

Clearly on the hunt for his first goal, Isaias too often rocketed shots into the stands instead of setting players up.

Tarek Elrich                                     6.0

Very lucky not to score an own goal early but recovered and made some big tackles.

James Jeggo                                      5.5

Unfortunately for Jeggo his most notable part of the game was kicking himself in the face with a wayward shot on target. Not a lot besides that.

Craig Goodwin                                 6.0

Had some really good link up play going forward but have to wonder if he could have closed down Henrique before his strike.

Michael Marrone                             6.0

Much like Goodwin, Marrone was solid at the back but was guilty of allowing Henrique a little too much space.

Dylan McGowan                               5.0

Struggled to find the right position for himself and committed a poor challenge on Henrique, which forced the attackers substitution early.

Pablo Sanchez                                  6.0

Managed a shot and was passing efficiently, but his duels let him down.

Eugene Galekovic                           6.5

Not really much he could do about the goal other than watch it. Was his usual commanding self.

Awer Mabil                                       6.5

Did a lot in the time he had, setting up a huge chance and having a shot himself.

Cameron Watson                            N/A

No time to influence.

Brisbane Roar

Jean Solorzano                                 6.0

Nothing overly flash from Solorzano but was exceptional with his tackling.

Henrique                                           7.5

It’s a huge shame Henrique was forced off with injury because he was looking phenomenal. Made great runs forward, found space in the box and his goal was pure class.

Dimitri Petratos                              6.5

Should have done better in the 21st minute when he was through on goal but did well to create the chance.

Matt McKay                                       7.0

Created a few chances and displayed perfect tackling to stop Adelaide’s early dominance.

Luke Brattan                                    6.0

Couldn’t control the midfield the way he wanted but was involved on the break several teams for the Roar.

Steven Lustica                                  7.0

A good game for Lustica, he managed four decent shots and orchestrated two more.

Corey Brown                                                6.0

Looked completely overwhelmed early from Adelaide’s pressure but got some composure back and steadied the ship.

Jade North                                         6.5

An ugly handball early on stopped a great chance through for Adelaide, paid the price with a yellow card but made the tactical decision.

James Donachie                               6.5

Apart for some early shakes Donachie held the defense together well.

Daniel Bowles                                  6.5

Constantly had to deal with the threatening runs of Cirio, and while he struggled at times, he ultimately got the clean sheet.

Jamie Young                                     6.5

Djite did well to draw him out in the 58th minute and was let off the hook by a poor Cirio shot. Still, he kept the clean sheet.

Matt Smith                                        N/A

A simple fairwell for the outbound Matt Smith.

Adam Sarota                                     N/A

No time to influence.

Brandon Borrello                           5.5

Borrello had a pretty decent game, unfortunately however he was brought on to replace Henrique and never quite reached the same heights. Suffered by comparison.
