Ange slams Brisbane surface

Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou has slammed the Brisbane Stadium surface and admits it’ll be another obstacle in Thursday’s quarter-final against China.

Australia went down 1-0 to Korea Republic in Brisbane on Saturday night, despite dominating possession.

There had been plenty of discussion regarding the Brisbane Stadium pitch in the lead-up to the game, with Robbie Kruse labeling it a “disgrace”.

Postecoglou was also disappointed with the standard of the surface and made his feelings known after Saturday’s game.

“The pitch is really disappointing for me,” Postecoglou told Fox Sports.

“It stops us playing our football. You could see tonight we had to take an extra touch when we didn’t want to.

“We’ll have to encounter that on Thursday night and overcome a tough China team.”

The Socceroos will face China at the same venue, with kick-off at 8.30pm local time on Thursday.
