Elsewhere, rising star Chris Ikonomidis scored an 87th-minute winner to see Lazio Youth through in the Campionato Primavera play-offs, Scott McDonald and Motherwell secured their status in the Scottish Premier League, seeing off Rangers 6-1 on aggregate, while Mitch Langerak and Borussia Dortmund went down in the final of the DFB-Pokal.
In the FA Cup final in England, Chris Herd was missing due to injury as Aston Villa suffered a crushing 4-0 defeat to Arsenal.
In the English Championship promotion playoff final, Rhys Williams was missing due to injury as Middlesbrough fell 2-0 to Norwich City at Wembley.
In the Scottish Premier League relegation playoffs, Scott McDonald played a full 90 minutes in both matches as Motherwell won the first leg of the tie 3-1 away at Rangers before securing their top-flight status 6-1 on aggregate following a 3-0 home win in the return leg.
In the second round of the FAI Cup in Ireland, Mark Griffin was not in the squad for Bohemian FC as they ran out 4-1 winners at home to Firhouse Clover. Dylan Mernagh also played a full match as Waterford United lost 2-1 away to Tolka Rovers.

In Regionalliga promotion playoff ties in Germany, Kwame Yeboah was not in the squad for either match as Borussia Monchengladbach II first played to a scoreless draw at Werder Bremen II before losing the return leg 2-0 in extra time after the match finished goalless after 90 minutes.
In the German Mittelrheinliga, Sam Gibson came on in the 85th minute as TSV Germania Windeck won 2-1 away to VfL Alfter. In a match played earlier in the week, Gibson came on in the 75th minute as Windeck won 3-2 over Hertha Walheim.
