Cahill goes green and gold for seventh FIFA cover shot

Socceroo legend Tim Cahill will feature on the Australian cover of EA SPORTS FIFA for the seventh consecutive year.

Australia’s all-time greatest goal scorer will join Westfield Matildas’ star Steph Catley and Barcelona icon, Lionel Messi on the cover of FIFA 16 when it launches on September 24.

This is the first time three athletes have graced the cover as well as the first time Cahill has been featured in his Socceroos kit.

Cahill spoke to an exclusive launch event for the global gaming franchise in Sydney last night via video link.

“I’ve had the honour of being a part of the FIFA franchise for a number of years now, but this is the first time I’m wearing my Socceroos kit and seeing that image on the cover makes me proud,” Cahill said.

“FIFA 16 will be the best installment of the franchise yet and I can’t wait to check out all the new features, especially the women’s teams.

“The Westfield Matildas performance at the World Cup was first class and it’s an honour to be pictured on the cover with Steph as well as one of the world’s greatest players, Lionel Messi.”

Head of EA SPORTS Marketing, Arbie Artinian, said: “We’re thrilled to see Cahill sporting his green and gold kit on a FIFA cover for the very first time.

“Being Australia’s all-time top goal scorer, he is the face of Australian football and we would like to thank him for his continued support of the EA SPORTS FIFA franchise.”

FIFA 16 will be available September 24, 2015 in Australia and September 25, 2015 in New Zealand on Origin™ on PC, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, Xbox 360® games and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment systems.
