Socceroo Tim Cahill’s form revival at Shanghai Shenhua has continued with his fourth goal in five league matches in a 1-1 draw on Saturday night.
Cahill fired in a trademark bullet header on 61 minutes to open the scoring, before Tianjin Teda equalised a quarter of an hour later.
The Australian had been under pressure in Shanghai last month, with reports suggesting he could be set to leave the club following the arrival of imports Mohamed Sissoko and Demba Ba.
However, the former Everton man has responded with a splendid run of form which will have Shenhua management confident he’s the right man for the club.
Cahill’s latest strike was a fine headed finish after Shenhua took a quick free-kick, with Lu Zheng’s right-flank cross finding the Socceroo.
Elsewhere, Nathan Burns made his debut for new club FC Tokyo in a 2-0 loss away to Kawasaki Frontale. Burns got half an hour off the bench.
Mitch Duke put in a full shift as Shimizu S-Pulse were hammered 5-0, while in Korea Alex Wilkinson played a full game in a Jeonbuk Motors win.comments
