Carney deal imminent after training absence

The imminent return of David Carney to Sydney FC has been given its biggest momentum shift yet, with the Newcastle Jets star missing from training.

It's the latest in the ongoing saga between Carney, Newcastle and Sydney as both clubs look to come to an agreement to allow for the player to move between clubs.

Whilst the Jets have been holding out for a swap deal for the pacy left back, it's expected that a release will be hammered out at the eleventh hour to allow Carney to rejoin Sydney FC.

Scott Miller was hopeful of an outcome where Carney would have traded places with either Chris Naumoff or former Newcastle youngster Andrew Hoole however Sydney FC have been reluctant to part with either.

This is despite both players being used sparingly this season for the Sky Blues.

Carney's arrival would be at the perfect time for the club, with the departure of left back Alex Gersbach desperately needing to be filled with only Rhyan Grant and Riley Woodcock capable of playing in the position.

It is expected that Carney will sign for at least the remainder of the 2015/16 season, as well as the upcoming 2016 edition of the Asian Champions League if he can secure a release from the Jets.
