Cernak farewells A-League for South Africa

SuperSport United have confirmed the signing of A-League journeyman, Isaka Cernak, following his release from the Central Coast Mariners.

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder has inked a three-year deal with the Pretoria-based clunb where he will link up with ex-Wellington Phoenix players Jeremy Brockie and Michael Boxall.

"Cernak is a very exciting player," SuperSport CEO, Stan Matthews told Sport24.

“I think you guys will be blown away when you see him.

"He's got skill, he's got flair, he's got attitude, pace, and I think he will bring out the best of Lebogang Manyama because it's not going to be easy for Manyama to get into the team.

"Then we have Michael Boxall, the New Zealand international, who I think is going to be one of the best defenders in the League.

"From everything we have seen, he has power, pace, reads the game well and a no-nonsense approach and I think he is going to be a big hit."

Before joining the South African top-flight, the former youth international had stints with six A-League clubs - Brisbane Roar, North Queensland Fury, Melbourne Victory, Wellington Phoenix, Perth Glory and the Mariners.
