Club Brugge have confirmed new Australian signing Bernie Ibini’s operation on his fractured fibula has been a success.
Ibini, 22, underwent surgery on his right leg in Gent in midweek after sustaining the injury, which is expected to keep him out for four months, at training on Monday.
The Belgian club tweeted a photo of Ibini giving the thumbs up after the operation on Thursday night.
The tweet read: “The operation was a success! Good luck with the recovery #GetWellSoonBernie.”

The injury will rule Ibini out of Australia’s next three 2018 World Cup qualifiers, while he’s unlikely to be ready for November matches at home to Kyrgyzstan and away to Bangladesh.
More significantly, the setback means Ibini will likely miss the entire first half of the 2015-16 Belgian Pro League season.
Club Brugge’s league campaign commences on Friday 24 July away to Sint Truiden, while they meet Gent in the Super Cup the weekend prior.
The club are also hopeful of reaching the UEFA Champions League group stage, but will need to progress via the qualifying round.comments
