Note: All prices are courtesy of Fantasy Games and based on an $75,000 salary cap.
Stoke: They have kept 8 clean sheets thus far and at home to Norwich mid-week. With 10 saves in as many starts Jack Butland ($5,000) is the man to pick.
Crystal Palace: Aston Villa have struggled to score goals all season and it won’t get any easier this week. Palace are flying in 7th and kept 3 clean sheets in their previous 5 games. Scott Dann ($5,800) is a little pricey, but has scored the most goals from a defender this season. Between the sticks is Wayne Hennessey ($4,100), who offers incredible value.
Chelsea: Chelsea seem to have turned a slight corner, demonstrating cohesion among the midfield and solidity at the back. Registering consecutive clean sheets highlights this further, and we see West Brom scoring blanks, given they’ve mustered only 3 goals in their last 4 away matches. Take your pick of the defenders.
High Salary Options
MID – Kevin De Bruyne ($10,900) vs Everton: Of the City attackers, our pick is De Bruyne. The Belgian has scored 13 fantasy points in his last two starts at home. Must play.
MID – Riyad Mahrez ($7,400) vs Everton: We’ve picked him 3 weeks straight and he did not deliver once. Don’t be fooled, it’s now a great time to pick him up. Factor in a tough away trip, plus his fantasy form, and many will be wary and leave him out of their side. He’s averaged 10.3 fantasy points in his last 3 away games.
MID – Dimitri Payet ($7,700) vs Bournemouth: Prior to his injury, the Frenchman was a highly consistent performer having got attacking stats in 80% of his matches. Having recently returned, Payet looks fit again and the Hammers appear to have a soft draw against a weakened Bournemouth.
FWD – Sergio Aguero ($12,900) vs Everton: Of the forwards this week, our top selection is Aguero. After showing glimpses of his best form against Watford last week, Everton in the league cup and scoring against Norwich in the FA Cup, we expect a run of goals. In those mentioned games, 19 touches in the penalty area, 7 shots from inside the box give us further evidence to pick him.
FWD – Olivier Giroud ($8,800) vs Liverpool: He’s gotten attacking stats in 6 of his last 8 games and facing a Liverpool side missing several key defensive players. Squad rotation is also a concern as Arsene Wenger could easily run Theo Walcott up-front given the fixture pile-up and Alexis Sanchez imminent return. Still, there’s too much upside in this fixture to ignore Giroud this week.
Best Value Picks
MID – Gylfi Sigurdsson ($7,000) vs Sunderland: Over the last 5 matchdays, he has made 16 attempts on goal (8 on target). Given the sheer volume of shots taken, Sigurdsson presents value against fellow strugglers Sunderland. Having scored last week against the robotic Man United, we expect him to push on here.
MID – Dele Alli ($5,500) vs Leicester: Alli has had the Lampard comparison thrown his way this week, and rightly so, having scored 3 goals and made 2 assists in his last six appearances. He is also second among midfielders for goal attempts since Christmas. Must play against a fast-paced Leicester side in what should be an end-to-end game.
MID - Junior Stanislas ($4,200) vs West Ham: At under 4.5k, the Bournemouth winger comes into consideration this week. He hasn’t netted in 4 games, but since Christmas, has managed 8 shots on target; including 5 inside the box. We see this finally mounting to goals soon and there’s no better game to do so than against his former team. Solid play at the price, and it allows you to beef up the forward line with guns.
