Sydney FC have swooped to re-sign key midfielder Milos Dimitrijevic on a new two-year deal.
Dimitrijevic, who scooped the pool at the club's awards last season will remain a Sky Blues player for seasons 2015/16 and 2016/17, joining a formidable Sydney FC midfield unit.
The Serbian and fans' favourite looked lost to the Sky Blues after negotiations appeared to have broken down and the 31-year-old considered his European options.
But the midfield maestro said working with coach Graham Arnold again and the lure of Asian Champions League football were too good to pass up.
“I’m really happy to be re-signing for Sydney FC,” he said.
“I thought long and hard during the off season about where I wanted to play my football and I am happy I have made the right decision.
“Working with Arnie again and competing in Asia were huge drawcards for staying.
“I can’t wait to see all of my team mates again and get back to working at a club like Sydney FC.”
Dimitrijevicwill look to add to his 37 A-League appearances after joining the Sky Blues as an injury replacement player in January of season 2013/14.
He scored two goals in 28 appearances last season as he propelled the Sky Blues towards the A-League Grand Final and Asian Champions League qualification.
Arnold said he was delighted to retain the services of one of the finest midfielders in the league.
“Milos is a quality player,” he said.“His displays last season earned him the acclaim of his peers and fans and I believe he was one of the form players of the competition.
“To have Milos back strengthens our midfield immensely as we need a lot of quality and depth with a heavy program, a lot of players away for Olyroos duty and the Asian Champions League matches, plus A-League."”
Dimitrijevic will link up with his teammates in mid-August.1 comment
