Early blitz gets City off the mark

Reigning champions Brisbane Roar have slumped to a fourth consecutive defeat after going down 3-1 to Melbourne City at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night.

Two goals inside the opening 10 minutes set the game up for City, who recorded their first win.

David Williams opened the scoring with a left-foot finish after combining with Mate Dugandzic.

Two minutes later, Dugandzic doubled their lead with a low strike after Erik Paartalu's throughball.

Roar rallied and pulled one back, when Brandon Borrello diverted Matt McKay's long-range effort on 67 minutes.

But youngster Mark Marino settled the contest on 83 minutes, smashing home James Brown's left flank ball.
