Fornaroli determined to win championship

Melbourne City hero Bruno Fornaroli says his side’s 2-0 elimination final win over Perth Glory means nothing and is determined to go all the way.

Fornaroli produced two moments of magic to decide Sunday’s clash at AAMI Park and book City a semi-final date away to Adelaide United on Friday night.

City were one of the sides pushing for the premiership before slipping late in the campaign, finishing in fourth, and Fornaroli spoke about his determination to win the championship after the game.

“I’m very happy for this game but it means nothing,” Fornaroli told Fox Sports.

“It’s only one game in the finals. If you want to win the league, you must continue in this way.”

City coach John van ‘t Schip praised Fornaroli for a special display.

“We’ve been pleased with the performance of Bruno all year and in a game like this, a final game, he performs again and helps the team,” he said.

“He’s an example for the others to get to that same level and work rate.”
