Perth Glory have agreed to the early release of midfielder Mitch Nichols to allow the player to return to his base in Japan.
Nichols arrived at Perth in the pre-season, on loan from Cerezo Osaka, and made 14 appearances for Glory, 10 of which he started.
The player's camp has hotly denied media reports that Nichols was dumped for disciplinary reasons.
The 26-year-old played a starring role for the team before suffering a hamstring injury on the eve of the FFA Cup final in December.
He last played for the title-chasing Glory in the team's 3-2 win over Western Sydney Wanderers in Round 23.
