Socceroo and Sparta Rotterdam winger Craig Goodwin says his inclusion in the latest issue of FourFourTwo which names the top 50 Aussies of 2015/16 gives him incentive to climb even higher up the list next year.
In the 2014/15 issue Goodwin was rated 40th but the last 12 months has seen the former Red win a Grand Final, get a dream Socceroos call up to face England as well as landing a dream contract in one of Europe top flight leagues.
During preparation for his debut season for Sparta Rotterdam, Goodwin has been in superb form and is the club’s leading goal scorer in pre-season with three goals. Rotterdam fans are buzzing about the Aussie with the club’s official twitter fan account praised the 24-year-old’s performances.
Regarding his inclusion in the Top 50 Goodwin was hungry to climb even higher up the list.
“It’s nice to have recognition for good form,” he said.
“It gives that extra motivation to try and push higher on the list and for me it’s about bettering my football and impressing as a player each year.
So it’s definitely nice to be included and it gives more motivation to keep learning and improving as a player.”
Without giving anything away Goodwin spot in the Top 50 is higher than his position last year.
