It's team of the week time and Griffin McMaster is overloading the midfield this week in his pick of the weekend's performances.
GK Vedran Janjetovic (Sydney FC)
Was solid throughout and helped his side to a clean sheet. Didn’t have a great deal to do, however has been sound this season and is deserving of his selection this week.
DC: Nikolai Topor-Stanley (Western Sydney Wanderers)
The tall centre half played very well against Perth. Was a big presence at the back to help thwart any attacks from Glory. A big contributor for his side to keep a clean sheet.
DC: Patrick Kisnorbo (Melbourne Heart)
The find of the season? Has been absolutely superb for Heart. Who will forget that challenge made late on to stop Berisha slotting in a tap in? Fantastic defender who puts his body on the line.
DC: Sasa Ognenovski (Sydney FC)
The big fella has made a good return to Sydney in a crucial time of the season for the club as it has problems off the field also. Scored a goal and defended well, put his body on the line when needed and his team kept a clean sheet.
MC: Orlando Engelaar (Melbourne Heart)
Has been fantastic since he’s returned from a serious injury and continues to deliver the goods in a pulsating match. Slotted home a cool finish to guide his team to three more points. Heart fans are starting to believe.
MC Mateo Poljak (Western Sydney Wanderers)
Did a great job in the middle of the park against Glory. Slotted one away and was busy always making tackles and interceptions. A key player to help guide the Wanderers to three points on the weekend.
AMC: Gui Finkler (Melbourne Victory)
Was deserving to start and hopefully we see more starts for him as he’s one of the deadliest players in the competition. Bagged a double, his passing and movement was very good. Big contributor for the three points on the weekend.
AMC: Carlos Hernandez (Wellington Phoenix)
If he keeps this form he’ll be player of the year. He’s a big contender and got another three votes in his match versus the Mariners on the weekend. Got on the scoresheet again and always setting up goals.
AMC: Kenny Cunningham (Wellington Phoenix)
Is an important part of Ernie Merrick's attack going forward. Has strung goals together through Wellington’s campaign and added another goal in a dominating 4-1 over the Mariners. The Costa Rican has been a quality fit for the Nix.
ST: Sergio Cirio (Adelaide United)
We can’t leave out the hat trick man. Played his best match for the season and has strung together very good performances through the campaign. Definitely didn’t deserve to be on the losing side.
ST: Stein Huysegems (Wellington Phoenix)
Stein is playing with a lot of confidence and on the weekend played a very solid game. Again on the scorers tally and his passing has been very good. Revelling under Ernie’s reign.
