Halloran: I'll be right for Chile
Halloran sat out from training on Sunday after the 1-0 loss.
“It was more precautionary, I got a knock on Friday to my right ankle,” the 21-year-old said.
“I rested it today but in a couple of days I’ll be back to full training. I’ll be right for Chile.”
Halloran said the injury occurred when one of the Vatreni tried to tackle him.
“It was one of those things, I was trying to cross a ball and the guy was pretty late on me and I got caught on the ankle,” he said.
“But it’s not a problem, I’ll ice it up today and I should be right for tomorrow.”
The Fortuna Dusseldorf winger enjoyed a fantastic season in Germany and arrived in Brazil full of confidence before making coach Ange Postecoglou's final cut.
“Coming into this camp in relatively good form is a bonus," said Halloran.
“Also the quality of the boys around me. It makes my job a lot easier if I make a run and they’re going to get the ball.
“Having the confidence of Ange, as well, allowing me to play my natural game, is good.”
The former Gold Coast United flyer could begin on the bench against the Chileans, but says isn’t preparing any differently if Postecgolou decides to start him in the first group game.
“At the moment I have no idea whether I’ll start or come of the bench or play at all,” he added.
“So I’m not looking that far ahead. But if I get the chance I’ll be pretty rapt.”
