Injury scare for Oar

Tommy Oar's Asian Cup availability isn't in doubt with scans confirming he has sustained only a slight hamstring strain that will rule him out for two weeks.

Oar had to be replaced at half-time in Utrecht's 5-1 win over NAC Breda in the Dutch Eredivisie on Saturday after picking up the hamstring injury.

There were initial fears in Australia over the availability of the winger, who turns 23 on Wednesday, for next month's Asian Cup following news of his substitution.

However, Oar underwent scans in the Netherlands on Monday and he told FourFourTwo they showed only a slight strain.

The Australian has been able to participate in some drills at Utrecht training this week and he confirmed the injury was nothing serious, although he would be out of action for two weeks.

Oar, who missed the Socceroos' 2-1 loss in Japan with a knee complaint, has enjoyed a strong season with Utrecht.

The ex-Brisbane Roar man has provided six assists in the league, second only to Ajax's Davy Klaassen.

Oar is off contract at the end of the season and Ajax are reportedly among the clubs keen on him.
