Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou says Mark Bresciano and Mile Jedinak are set to see game time in Saturday morning’s World Cup warm-up against Croatia, and he hinted at a slightly different role for Tommy Oar.
Speaking to reporters after arriving in Salvador ahead of the Croatia clash, the Socceroos boss confirmed the star playmaker and his captain would get on the park.
“If we can get 90 (minutes) out of Mile tomorrow night that would be great, he is fit,” Postecoglou said.
“Bresciano will train tonight with the team and we will try and get him some game time with the team tomorrow.”
In training this week, live-wire winger Tommy Oar has been spotted playing just in behind a central striker.
It is something Postecoglou may look to exploit against the highly-rated Croatians in what is the Aussies’ final match before opening their World Cup campaign on June 13 against Chile.
“Every game and training has been a way to progress our conditioning and understanding as a team,” Postecoglou said.
“We have some real options in the midfield and the front third. Tommy Oar can play wide and 10.”
Postecoglou added the Croatia friendly was a great opportunity to test one of his central defensive partnerships.
"I want to see how Matt Spiranovic and Wilko (Alex Wilkinson) play as a partnership tomorrow night,” he said.
“We are looking forward to playing against a quality opponent tomorrow night, this is what we have been training for."
