Josh Brillante's Serie A move imminent

Josh Brillante appears set to become the next promising Newcastle Jets player to leave the club, with a move to Italian side Fiorentina reportedly imminent.

The versatile youngster, able to play in defence and midfield, was chosen in Ange Postecoglou's expanded 30-man Socceroos training squad ahead of the FIFA World Cup.

And although the 21-year-old didn't make the plane to Brazil, he could soon be bound for Serie A, with Vincenzo Montella's side having sealed a deal for the Bundaberg-born Jet, according to Fox Sports.

Having impressed for the Young Socceroos at the Under-20 World Cup in June last year, Brillante earned his first senior Australia cap in a 4-3 loss to China at the East Asian Cup a month later in the Korea Republic.

Jets star and A-League's Golden Boot last season, Adam Taggart, has already made the move overseas signing a three-year deal with Championship side Fulham.

The 21-year-old hitman, part of Postecoglou's rookie Roos at the World Cup, was granted an early release from the Hunter outfit.
