Leijer on the lookout

Former Melbourne Victory captain Adrian Leijer is on the lookout for a new club after confirming he has left Chinese outfit Chongqing Lifan.

Leijer, 29, took to social media on Sunday night to farewell the Chinese club whom he joined on a two-year deal in February.

“Thank you & good luck to the Chongqing Lifan fans and players,” Leijer posted on Instagram.

“The last 12 months has been an incredible journey, both on & off the park.

"Looking forward to the next adventure!!!”

Leijer had been a regular in the Chongqing Lifan side which finished eighth in the Chinese Super League in 2015.

The club recently signed South Korea international Jung Woo-Young as their overseas Asian player.

Dubbo-born centre back Leijer sits second on Victory’s all-time most appearances with 153 games for the club.

Leijer won two premierships and two championships with Victory, sandwiched between two years spent in England with Fulham and Norwich City.
