Adrian Layer looks set for the Chinese Super League after Melbourne Victory and Chongqing Lifan agreed in-principle to the transfer.
Victory confirmed that former skipper and foundation player, Leijer, has almost certainly played his last game for the club with the Chinese transfer window closing on Friday.
Leijer, who was one of the bright stars of the A-League early years, has already jetted out to China to undergo a medical.
The 28-year-old defender played 176 A-League games for Victory and was a member of the club’s A-League Premiership-Championship winning double in 2006-07.
Chongqing Lifan’s season opening match for 2015 is on Sunday, March 7.
