Ljubo Splits for Europe

EXCLUSIVE: Departing Perth Glory defender Ljubo Milicevic is heading back to Europe in the next few days but says Glory are in good shape to make the top four.

Just seven weeks after signing for the A-League club the enigmatic former Socceroo has parted ways leaving the club a little light on in the central defensive area.
But the 32-year-old believes the club has enough cover in the squad to make a serious challenge for the finals without him.
“Perth is a wonderful club and the city is amazing," he told au.fourfourtwo.com today.
"And honestly, this squad is so strong they’re definite top six, and more likely top four. Once you’re in the finals anything can happen.”
Milicevic wasn’t in the squad for last weekend’s friendly against Sydney FC, won by Perth 3-0. The defensive duo of Michael Thwaite and Steve Pantelidis looked very comfortable together.
However the former Victory and Jets player singled out one Glory player for particular praise.
“Danny de Silva - what a player," he said. "A good kid too just wait till the season starts he’s going to be massive. He’ll win best U-21 player of the league.”
Milicevic leaves Perth today and is tipped to pop up in Europe soon. He posted on Facebook last night that he would be travelling to Split, Croatia - home of his former club, Hajduk Split - over the weekend, arriving on Monday.
He added: “I’m not going to be saying anything more but au.fourfourtwo.com readers can follow me on Instagram (http://followgram.me/tag/ljubomilicevic).”
