Former Melbourne Victory and Perth Glory midfielder Jesse Makarounas has signed a one-year contract with reigning A-League Champions Adelaide United.
“Obviously the team was very successful last year and I felt it was time for me to make a change in my career and I’m happy the move has brought me here," Makarounas said.
“There are some great players here at the club and the style of football that the team plays is really good and it will suit me very well.
“Watching the team play last season, you could see how attractive the football was, so hopefully I can contribute to the team positively and bring something extra to the squad.
“We want to have another successful year and I’m ready to do whatever is best for the team and play wherever I’m needed.”
Adelaide United's General Manager of Football Ante Kovacevic, who previously encountered Makarounas from his time at Perth Glory, was pleased to bring the 22 year-old to the Reds.
“We’re delighted to have added Jesse to our squad for the upcoming season.
“We’ve been looking to add extra depth in to the squad and with Jesse we have another attacking minded player who is hungry to develop further individually and within the team.
“He’s an exciting and versatile midfielder with a great understanding of the game for a 22-year-old.
“Jesse has a lot of valuable experience in the Hyundai A-League that he can bring to our team, as well as in our Asian Champions League campaign.
“I’m sure Jesse will fit in seamlessly within the team and will settle into our style of football comfortably."comments
