Socceroos midfielder Massimo Luongo is among 59 players in the world to make it onto the FIFA Ballon d'Or shortlist for 2015, according to reports.
The Ballon d'Or is the highest individual honour for a player, with only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo having won the award since it merged with the FIFA World Player of the Year in 2010.
Luongo, who starred for Australia at the 2015 Asian Cup in January, has made it onto the shortlist according to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.
The 23-year-old joins the likes of Tim Cahill and Harry Kewell as other Australians to have made the shortlist for the coveted award.
Luongo made the switch to Queens Park Rangers in the off-season after previously playing for Swindon Town.
The Ballon d'Or shortlist is stripped down to 23 before the winner is announced in January.1 comment
