Melbourne City sign Miller to short-term deal

Liam Miller has signed a short-tem contract with Melbourne City FC after falling out with reigning champions Brisbane Roar.

Miller, who left Roar by mutual consent, will be available for selection for this Sunday’s A-League match against the Central Coast Mariners at AAMI Park.

The 33-year-old was picked up by City, who defeated Roar 3-1 last week, under FFA's national tream replacement player rule.

John van 't Schip's side will be without a host of players for their upcoming clash.

Midfielders Aaron Mooy (Socceroos) and Stefan Mauk (Olyroos) are away on national team duties, while Robert Koren (calf), Jonatan Germano (hamstring) and Massimo Murdocca (groin) remain sidelined through injury.

Miller trained with Melbourne City this morning.

Last week Miller cleared the air on why he left Roar saying he felt disrespected and refuting coach Mike Mulvey's claims that an ongoing calf strain led to his non-selection.

Roar have begun their title defence with four straight losses.

In their latest defeat to City, frustrations bubbled to the surface at Suncorp with senior player Shane Stefanutto blowing up at stand-in goalkeeper Jamie Young at the final whistle.
