Melbourne City vs Sydney FC: Player Ratings

Sydney FC remain unbeaten this season after a 2-1 win over Melbourne City on Saturday night. Griffin McMaster tells us who was best on ground and who was rubbish.

Flapped at the cross which gifted Sydney the openener however he got back into the game with two good one-on-one stops.

IAIN RAMSAY – 5 Got exposed a lot. Bernie Ibini was having a field day.

JASON HOFFMAN – 6 Did well although a fair few crosses came in from his side.

ROB WIELAERT – 5 Had a lot of Sydney attacks to deal with and got exploited. Gave away the winning goal with a shocking back-pass.

PATRICK KISNORBO – 6 Like Wielaert he had a lot of pressure against him.

AARON MOOY – 7 Back from international duty. Sharp and always showing good pressure. City’s best player.

LIAM MILLER – 5 Van't Schip needed to change things up in midfield at half-time and Miller was the man sacrificed.

ERIK PAARTALU – 6.5 Couldn’t cope with Sydney’s attack however did score at the death. Two goals in two weeks.

DAMIEN DUFF – 7 Out on the wing as always. Was offering something for City’s attack. Got another assist. Dominant player in the A-League.

DAVID WILLIAMS – 6 Had a chance on 49 minutes to equalise but mis-hit his shot. Wasn’t his night.

MATE DUGANDZIC – 6 100th A-league match and played 77 minutes. Was ok in bursts but things didn’t work out.

JAMES BROWN – 6 On after 66 minutes minute. Almost equalised late on. Deserves a start in my opinion.

JACOB MELLING – 6.5 Came on at half-time and was a big boost for City. Showed his potential.

MARC MARINO – N/A On 77th minute. Should have scored couldn’t get on the end of it at the death.

VEDRAN JANJETOVIC – 8 Finally let in a goal but was superb tonight otherwise.

NIKOLA PETKOVIC – 7.5 Solid at the back.

SEBASTIAN RYALL – 7.5 Has been solid and continued his good form tonight.

ALEX GERSBACH – 7 17-years of age and not doing too badly at all. Learning what the A-League is about. On the left hand side got some effective runs.

PREDRAG BOJIC – 7 Came in to do a job and did it well.

ALEX BROSQUE – 7.5 Did well. Had plenty of service and Graham Arnold’s got his role working well.

ALI ABBAS – 6.5 Missed a good one-on-one but had a good game otherwise.

TERRY ANTONIS – 7.5 Couldn’t play last week and it showed how much they miss him. He is Sydney’s X-factor.

MILOS DIMITRIJEVIC 5.5 – Not as much involvement as previous matches. Was harshly sent off at the end.

BERNIE IBINI-ISEI – 8 Finally starting to come good. Got the assist for the goal and also his work off the ball was good.

MARC JANKO – 8.5 How professional is he? Misses the Austrian friendly against Brazil to play in this match and scores two goals! Had a blinder.

RHYAN GRANT – 6 Making his return from a serious injury. Played the last twenty minutes.

SHANE SMELTZ - N/A Came on in the fourth minute of injury time to see the game out.
