Oar scores Gold Coast beach house

Socceroo Tommy Oar has reportedly bought a $1.31 million beach house on the Gold Coast.

The three-bedroom Mermaid Beach home is an addition to his property portfolio which includes a Surfers Paradise unit.

Oar joins to ranks of elite athletes buying on the Gold Coast with 11-time world champion surfer Kelly Slater recently purchasing a luxury $2.15 million apartment in Palm Beach.

However, the former Brisbane Roar product is unlikely to be settling in Australia any time soon.

Oar, who is in his final season with FC Utrecht, has notified the Eredivisie club he will be seeking a move to another outfit in Europe at the end of his contract.

The winger was transfer-listed in January and has previously been linked with Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam.

The 23-year-old is part of coach Ange Postecoglou’s Socceroos squad to take on World Champions Germany (March 26) and FYR Macedonia (March 31).
