Queensland NPL powerhouse, Palm Beach Sharks, have booked their place in the final 16 of the FFA cup with a 2-1 away win over Hakoah Sydney City at Hensley Athletic Park in Sydney tonight.
The Queenslanders raced off to an early lead and were 2-0 up within 16 minutes.
Former Sheffield Wednesday and Adelaide United striker, Lloyd Owusu, pegged one back for the home side on 68 minutes giving hope of a late charge.
But there was to be no fairytale finish for the NSW third-tier team and former NSL heavyweights.
Daniel Fragiecevic got the Sharks off to the perfect start, capitalising on a scamble in the box to net on four minutes before another former Adelaide United player, Kristian Rees, doubled their lead.
There were late chances for both sides but Palm Beach held on for the win.
Hakoah Sydney City - 1 (Owusu 67')
Palm Beach Sharks - 2 ( Dragicevic 4', Rees 16')
