Perth Glory hold Malaga to draw
Glory goalkeeper Danny Vukovic was a prominent figure in the match, making a number of crucial saves to keep Malaga at bay.
The Spaniards were coming off a 5-1 win over Adelaide United on Friday night but two games plus the trek from Adelaide to Perth in three days took their toll on the players according to Malaga coach Javi Garcia.
"That is the reason why the team didn't score more goals today," Garcia said.
"They were better in the first match but they are really tired now."
Ricardo Horta curled in the opening goal of the game on 32 minutes, with the scores remaining 1-0 going in to half-time.
Glory got back on level terms on 57 minutes thanks to a goal from Republic of Ireland international Andy Keogh.
Keogh was given a start along with new signings Richard Garcia, Mitch Nichols, Youssouf Hersi, Diego Ferreira and Dino Djulbic.
Glory coach Kenny Lowe was happy with his side's performance and admits Glory are on the right track.
"I thought we looked dangerous, especially on the counter," Lowe said.
"Defensively we looked really solid and compact.
"We've been working hard over the pre-season. It's nice seeing a lot of things coming to fruition. It's a work in progress."
