Phoenix beaten by New Zealand A

Wellington Phoenix have tuned up for this week's FFA Cup clash against Melbourne City with a 2-1 loss against New Zealand A in New Plymouth on Sunday.

Phoenix will travel to Melbourne this week to face City in the cup last 16 on Wednesday, but won't take winning form.

New Zealand A went ahead on 32 minutes courtesy of Louis Fenton.

Alex Rufer doubled New Zealand A's advantage on 58 minutes after Joel Stevens' cutback.

Roy Krishna pulled one back for Wellington with 15 minutes to play, but it ended 2-1.
