Rogic suffers ankle injury in Hamilton rout

Celtic are optimistic an ankle injury sustained by Tom Rogic overnight is only minor and that he’ll be fine to play in Saturday’s Scottish Premier League clash against St Johnstone.

Rogic was withdrawn at the break after scoring and providing an assist in the first half of Celtic’s 8-1 rout of Hamilton Academicals on Wednesday morning (AEDT).

“Tom twisted his ankle but I don’t think it’s a big thing and hopefully he is ready for Saturday,” Celtic boss Ronny Deila said.

Rogic has been in stellar form for the Hoops in the 2015-16 season with the benefit of a clean bill of health.

The 23-year-old Socceroos midfielder has made 27 appearances in all competitions for Celtic, including seven goals.

Previously he had battled long-term injury problems, such as groin and ankle issues which kept him on the sidelines for almost 12 months.
