Three-time Socceroo Adam Sarota has gone on trial with Eerste Divisie promotion hopefuls Go Ahead Eagles.
The 27-year-old midfielder has not made one appearance for Utrecht this campaign since returning from a season on loan at Brisbane Roar.
FourFourTwo understands Sarota will train with the Deventer-based club from Tuesday through to Friday with a view to a permanent deal.
Go Ahead Eagles were relegated from the Eredivisie last season, but are currently second in the Dutch second tier at the halfway mark.
After falling out of favour at Utrecht under Rob Alflen, Sarota had hoped for a fresh chance this term under new boss Erik ten Hag.
“With a new head coach and assistant, everyone has the same chance and has to start from scratch,” Sarota told FourFourTwo in June.
“He’s told us as long as you train well, he’ll pick what he feels is the strongest team.”
Opportunities haven’t been forthcoming at Utrecht for the ex-NYL Player of the Year who is now seeking a fresh chance in the Netherlands.comments
