Schwarzer set to join Leicester

Former Australia goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer appears set for a surprise move to Premier League strugglers Leicester City.

The Chelsea shot-stopper is set to sign an 18-month deal with the league's bottom club, according to reports in the UK.

Schwarzer would sign a deal until the end of the 2015-16 season at Leicester, who are four points from safety.

The 42-year-old is third in line at Jose Mourinho's table-topping outfit, behind Thibaut Courtois and Petr Cech.

Kasper Schmeichel, Nigel Pearson's first-choice goalkeeper, is out injured, with Ben Hamer replacing him.

But Schwarzer would put pressure on the 27-year-old Englishman.

The Australian joined Chelsea in July 2013 but has been given only limited opportunities.

The 109-capped international is yet to feature in any competition for Chelsea this season.

His move to Leicester is expected to be confirmed no later than Monday.
