Socceroos slide down in world rankings, Belgium go top

The latest FIFA world rankings have been released by the world's governing body and the Socceroos have moved down while two of their group rivals have surged up.

Last month, following wins over Bangladesh and Tajikistan in September World Cup qualifiers, Australia moved up three spots to 58.

But after a tough loss in Jordan in October,  the Aussies are down two to 60 in the latest rankings released this morning by FIFA.

As for the Socceroos' group opponents in the AFC World Cup qualifiers, Kyrgyzstan, who face Australia in Canberra next week, have surged 22 spots from 146 to 124.

Jordan were ranked 99 last month with the group leaders now up 17 spots to 82.

Belgium, meanwhile, have gone to the top of the rankings for the first time in their history.
