Sydney confirm Hoole signing

Sydney FC have officially confirmed the signing of Young Socceroo Andrew Hoole on a two-year deal.

Hoole is the first new addition to coach Graham Arnold’s squad for next season and joins from Newcastle Jets where he made 50 appearances in three years.

Arnold has been tracking the youth international and Jets Player of the Year for some time, impressed with his vision and skill on the ball.

The Jets had hoped to keep hold of the promising 21-year-old but he indicated in January he was moving on with Sydney widely tipped as the destination.

And Hoole showed his future club exactly what they can expect when he starred for the Jets in their 4-3 loss to Sydney earlier this month – earning and converting a penalty.

“Andrew is a quality young player with a proven track record in the Hyundai A-League,” Arnold said of the 21-year-old.

“I’m looking forward to working with him and I can’t wait to nurture the talent that he has already displayed this season.

“I’m confident Andrew will provide great competition for places and that will only see us build on our record breaking 2014/15 season in the future.”

Hoole will link up with the Sky Blues next month and said he was keen to get started under the title-winning coach.

“The ambitions of the club match that of my own and I can’t wait to begin working for Graham,” he said.

“I want to be successful in my career and I believe Sydney FC is the best place to make that happen. I’m looking forward to linking up with my new team-mates and I’m excited for the future.”
