Sydney FC have snapped up young Sutherland Sharks defender Jacob Tratt on a one-year deal ahead of the 2015/16 A-League season.
Tratt captained the Sky Blues side that lifted the National Youth League trophy in 2014.
The 20-year-old scored seven goals in last season’s PS4 NSW NPL Men’s 1 competition as well as two in the Sharks FFA Cup campaign.
Sydney coach Graham Arnold said Tratt had impressed in training
“Jacob has the potential to go on and become an excellent defender,” Arnold said.
“He has a lot of strengths to his game and has shown us already this year he has the ability to be a part of our first team squad.
“I look forward to seeing his development over the next 12 months.”
Tratt was ecstatic to sign his first professional contract.
“It’s a fantastic feeling to have become part of the first team squad and I can’t wait to improve working under Arnie and alongside the boys,” Tratt said.
“The step up will be big but I’m confident of making it and hopefully I can put some pressure on the defence and add some competition for places.
"I am so grateful for everyone that has helped me along this journey to get to where I am now, especially my family who have given me so much support and commitment.
“It's so rewarding to finally be able to give something back to them because they have worked so hard for me."
