Taggart injury blow on season eve

Luckless Socceroos striker Adam Taggart could miss Fulham’s Championship season opener due to a hamstring complaint.

Taggart endured a frustrating first year with Fulham last season due to an adductor injury but promising pre-season form had him in line for a potential debut on Saturday away to Cardiff City.

Fulham boss Kit Symons told reporters on Thursday that Taggart was in a race against time to be available.

“Tags has got a bit of a hamstring problem,” Symons confirmed, although he failed to rule him out.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Jason Davidson will hope to make his debut for new club Huddersfield when they face Hull City on Saturday.

Bailey Wright and Neil Kilkenny will also be in action on Sunday for newly promoted Preston North End when they host Middlesbrough, who have Rhys Williams out injured.
