Griffin McMaster gives us his pick of the weekend's performances in his latest team of the week selection.
GK Ante Covic (Western Sydney Wanderers)
Couldn’t be at blame for the two goals he conceded but mad ea number of saves and was all round solid, despite the final whistle controversy.
DL Aziz Behich (Melbourne Heart)
Has had a torrid time for Heart but now there’s been a mini revival at the club and Aziz played superbly well against Sydney FC. He was up and down the touchline playing in his familiar role as he always enjoys.
DC Michael Beauchamp (Western Sydney Wanderers)
Had great presence at the back for the Wanderers. Very good game reader of the ball and towers high for clearing headers. Was certainly an asset for the Wanderers on the weekend.
DC Zac Anderson (Central Coast Mariners)
Was outstanding in a match where he was under the pump especially under hot conditions and had to clear a number of balls outside the 18 yard box. Was a rock at the back and has been one of Mariners best players this season.
DR Joshua Risdon (Perth Glory)
Did his job well for Glory in their draw against Victory. Deserves praise for his performance - wasn’t easy thwarting the challenges from Rogic, Finkler and Nabbout.
MC Harry Kewell (Melbourne Heart)
Was man of the match against Sydney FC and his true class is showing now at the club. He’s also grown in confidence under the John Van Schip reign. A bolter for world cup selection.
MC Carlos Hernandez (Wellington Phoenix)
Was creator maestro for Phoenix’s go forward and also converted one at the spot. Certainly a player that’s fitted in very well with Merrick at Phoenix as he had done at Victory.
MC Thomas Broich (Brisbane Roar)
Was man of the match in his game against the Mariners. His passing and work rate was fantastic. He’s been a big player towards Brisbane’s title aspirations and is great to watch in the A-League.
SC Besart Berisha (Brisbane Roar)
The guy knows how to score goals. Has a common knack for finding the back of the net. Brisbane fans are going to miss him with his departure going to Victory for next season. Scored the winning goal and will fight for Roar’s title chances this season.
SC Adam Taggart (Newcastle Jets)
Has been one of the big success stories for Jets this season. Saturday night was no different in helping his team for a late draw over Western Sydney Wanderers. Bagged a double and certainly one of the deadliest strikers in the A-League.
SC Tom Rogic (Melbourne Victory)
His experience from overseas has been of great benefit and his return has been class and was a great performer in his match against Glory. He runs with the ball at great pace and always causes problems for defences. Is going to be a big threat in games to come.
