Williams extends Barnsley loan

Fulham has agreed to extend the loan of Australian midfielder Ryan Williams to League One club Barnsley for another month.

Williams joined Barnsley at the start of October and has five appearances for the club. The 21-year old has played four games in League One and one in the Football League trophy for the Reds.

Barnsley manager Danny Wilson told the Sheffield Star that Williams has “done really well” for the South Yorkshire club.

“He’s given us a different dimension to our game and has enjoyed himself,” Wilson said.

“He’s slotted in very well. He’s got better in every game he’s played and he is a constant threat. He works very hard for the team.”

An attacking midfielder or winger, Williams made three appearances for Championship outfit Fulham this season before joining Barnsley.

The ECU Joondalup junior told FourFourTwo he is glad to have his loan extended.

“Yeah I’m really happy to just keep playing,” Williams said.

Williams, who has 12 caps for the Young Socceroos, could be in line for a call-up to the Olyroos for the November matches against Brazil, China and South Korea.
