September 13, 2011: Klopp glances down before his Champions League debut against Arsenal.

April 21, 2012: Shinji Kagawa celebrates putting Dortmund ahead against Borussia Monchengladbach. Klopp signed the Japanese star from Cerezo Osaka for just €350,000 in summer 2010. Dortmund went on to win 2-0, and claimed their second straight league title.

April 21, 2012: Klopp milks the plaudits after Dortmund secure back-to-back Bundesliga titles.

May 5, 2012: Klopp celebrates with the championship trophy after Dortmund's final game of the season against Freiburg.

May 12, 2012: Klopp celebrates during the DFB-Pokal final as Dortmund smash Bayern Munich 5-2 at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

February 27, 2013: Klopp handed Gotze his debut in 2009. After joining rivals Bayern, the youngster scored the winner in the 2014 World Cup Final as Germany beat Argentina 1-0 in Brazil.

Miracle against Malaga

April 9, 2013: Klopp celebrates as two goals in injury-time see Dortmund scrape past Malaga in the Champions League quarter-finals.

April 9, 2013: Reus and Felipe Santana netted the decisive goals in Dortmund, with Die Schwarzgelben on the verge of exiting the competition.  

"We're the real deal now"

April 29, 2013: Klopp chats to the media before his side’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Real Madrid. Dortmund took a 4-1 lead into the game.

April 30, 2013: The Dortmund boss hugs Hummels after Dortmund knocked Real Madrid out of the 2013 Champions League, advancing 4-3 on aggregate after a nervy second leg in Madrid.

May 25, 2013: Klopp can only watch as Bayern snatch a late winner. Arjen Robben netted the decisive goal after Mario Mandzukic and Ilkay Gundogan had swapped goals in the second half.

July 27, 2013: Just two months after the Champions League final, Klopp and Dortmund beat Bayern 4-2 in the German Supercup – Pep Guardiola’s first game in charge of Bayern.

November 23, 2013: But Bayern got the upper hand in that season's Bundesliga, winning it by 19 points ahead of Dortmund. Gotze scored in a 3-0 win for Bayern at the Westfalenstadion.

November 30, 2014: Klopp comforts Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt. The 2-0 loss sent Borussia to the bottom of the table after 13 games.

February 4, 2015: Klopp cuts a sullen figure as Augsburg celebrate the only goal in their 1-0 victory in Dortmund. Defeat meant Borussia remained bottom of the Bundesliga for the second week running.

February 28, 2015: Three weeks after being bottom of the Bundesliga table, Dortmund smash Schalke 3-0 and rise to 10th.

Beaten by The Old Lady

March 18, 2015: Klopp congratulates Juventus players at the end of their Champions League clash, won 3-0 by the Italians in Dortmund. Borussia crashed out at the last 16 stage, 5-1 on aggregate.

April 11, 2015: A first-minute goal helps consign BVB to a 3-1 defeat at Monchengladbach.
