Lanús win Libertadores gameLanús, a small team from the southern suburbs, firstly shocked the Argentine footballing world by winning their first ever championship last year. They are now the only Argentine team to have won their opening Libertadores game (Boca still have to play). They beat Danubio in Buenos Aires 3-1 with goals from Pelletieri, an Abelenda free kick and a second half shot from Acosta. River, San Lorenzo and Estudiantes all lost their games against small teams – in River case against Unversidad San Martin in Peru, a team that averages 50 supporters, mostly from the Orthodontology faculty.
