Lets be honest a LONG , LONG time . Sorry to break it to Liverpool fans but Spurs are just about to overtake you, Everton , Villa , City and Newcastle have the potential too. Man U and Chelsea are on different planets and the Gunners are certainly better. Rubbish manager , 3 decent players and chairman problems. My answer too how many years it will take is about 10.

I agree that it will be a long time before Liverpool win the title again, but I think that Everton are closer to overtaking them than Tottenham are, Benitez is a very good manager but is more suited to the football on the continent, hence Liverpool's relative success in the Champion's League. Gerrard and Torres have had to carry the team at times, with flashes of brilliance from Alonso, Carragher and Riena helping them along.  But aside from your too best talents, the big 3 out-match you in every department.

I feel as though we are slightly closer than both Everton and Villa. We've added strength in the form of Modric and Giovani, although I don't have high expectations for Giovani for this season. We have the firepower and if we can keep Leds fit and get a decent keeper then we will be there or thereabouts.

I think gilbertdinho slightly touched on another problem. Liverpool are signing the wrong players . No offence to Spurs but you should not really be signing Modric , Giovani. You have never been in the Champo league and never had a half decent title challenge. But Liverpool are a big club . And they are trying to sign James Milner who I am sorry 28 years ago would not have been good enough for Liverpool reserves.

If LFC sign a goal-scoring winger, and maybe a great goalscorer, we will be up there. And Utd and Chelsea arent too far off, we just need two more fab signings, remember, LFC have half of Utd and Chelsea's budget. Community Club VS Billionaire Clubs. And do you know how long it took ferguson to win his 1st title - he was nearly sacked - so give Benitez time...

Manchester United aren't a Billionaire's club, the Glazers had to take out a huge loan secured against the club in order to buy the controlling stake.

Liverpool will win it sooner then most on here expect, Fergie will retire soon, Chelsea seem to sake anyone

who does a great job and Arsenal dont have the budget. However Spurs are no where near

Liverpool i mean come on last season your defense was shocking, you need at least 4 players

there, the only good enougth defender you have is King, Dawson is good but no better then what a lot

of teans have, last season you were in the bottom half below West Ham. So how anyone can say Spurs are near Liverpool is laugthable.

Are you forgetting Woodgate, Hutton and Bale. Dawson is not half as good as any of these three.

sorry but who is liverpool's third good player i'll give you torres and gerrard (but only for liverpool)

oh and the only reason united have more money is because we win things and play good football and liverpool have a bigger budget than arsenal and arsenal were within 3 points of the title

Why did i pick this name

I wouldnt be suprised if liverpool really challenge over the next couple of seasons, the spark is there, they just need that flaming torch to lead them.

Although i hope Arsenal keep up the pressure, Nasri should be a very interesting signing

ronaldo the king I regard Mascherano as the third good player . If it were not for him Liverpool wouldnt have conceded as few goals.

Well according to the Liverpool fans, this season (as it has been for the past 18 years) will be their year. They are at like Arsenal, they are at least 4 players away from being good enough to be second place challangers. Plus they need countless more players to be equal with United and Chelsea in the in-squad ddepth, because now if Torres or Gerrard are out of the team then there is no-one else to carry the team on, in Man UTd and Chelsea's case there will always be a player ready to step in.

Liverpool will never win the Prem under Benitez..................

I don't think he has a grasp of what it takes to win the prem in that the safety 'keep it tight' approach that works in Europe needs to be replaced by a more expansive game in the Prem.......

HHe has had 4 years to build a squad that looks capable of challenging and has not even came close and as far as his spat with one/both of the owners thats alos his problem as its a reality for a top manager in the modern game to have to deal with rich egomaniac chairmen

Liverpool are a really long way off winning the prem, the only reason they get regular champions league football is because of the recent lack of competition for 4th place, everton, villa and spurs might soon change that, in fact Liverpool lost out a couple of years ago to a very ordinary Everton side and the only real change since then has been Torres who, as good as he is, cannot make up the rest of the squads (except Gerrard) lack of talent and players like Degen and Dossena and Barry are not going to change that.
