2015 MSL Team of the Week: Gameweek 4
Standing in for Norazlan Razali, Syamin Othman made a strong claim for the #1 shirt as he constantly thwarted almost everything PDRM threw at him. He was perhaps unlucky to concede a goal, which went in following a ricochet inside his penalty box.
The LionsXII managed to hold Felda United to a goalless draw, and it was mainly thanks to Madhu Mohana. The Singapore defender brought out his A-game that night and worked fantastically in tandem with Zulfahmi Arifin, who was playing in an unfamiliar centre-back role due to an injury to Afiq Yunos.
With seconds left to play in the first-half against Sime Darby, Zesh Rehman escaped unmarked and rose the highest to head Pahang in front from a corner. The Pakistani defender also put in a good defensive shift to ensure his team's second successive clean sheet in the league.
After Shahrom Kalam had to go off with an injury early in the first-half against PDRM, Rizal Fahmi Rosid was thrown in at the deep end as the captain's replacement, but he did well as the Selangor defence limited the Cops, who thrashed Kelantan 4-0 a week ago, to just one goal.
S. Kunanlan had been playing as a full-back lately, but he returned to his original position in JDT's 2-1 win over Sarawak, showing exactly how dangerous he is as a winger. Without the defensive burden on him, the Malaysia international freely charged forward and caused the Crocs' defence a big problem.
With two goals to his name, Safiq Rahim was easily at his best against Sarawak. The JDT stand-in captain scored an exquisite free-kick before striking a low shot from outside of the area into the bottom corner past the Sarawak goalkeeper.
Hafiz Kamal was Pahang's most dangerous player on the pitch until he had to go off just after the hour mark due to an injury, dictating the ball as he pleased. On top of setting up the corner for Rehman's goal, he also played a brilliant cross-field ball for R. Gopinathan in the second-half that resulted in another goal for Pahang.
Another JDT player to make the list is Nazrin Nawi, who worked tirelessly all night long by making attacking runs and exploiting Sarawak's high defence.
Jerry Palacios opened his account for ATM as he inspired his team, having been 2-0 down with half an hour to go, to an unlikely comeback and gain their first point of the season.
Terengganu sharpshooter Paulo Rangel continued his hot scoring streak with two goals against ATM, taking his tally to five goals in as many games in all competitions.
After rediscovering his goal-scoring touch against Felda United in the FA Cup, Ahmad Hazwan Bakri opened the floodgates for Selangor in their massive 4-1 win over PDRM. He also had a hand in their final goal of the night, playing a quick one-two with Guilherme de Paula that created space for the Brazilian to score.
