Malaysia national head coach Dollah Salleh believes Malaysia Cup holders Pahang can defend the trophy this year.
Pahang will face 2014 Malaysian Super League winners Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) in the Oppo Malaysia Cup final at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium on November 1.
Dollah Salleh, who was the head coach of the Elephants between 2009 and 2013 and guided them to last year’s Malaysia Cup glory, feels that his former charges are stronger than Bojan Hodak’s men.
“JDT have strong individual players, but they do not look impressive as a team compared to Pahang, who looked more organised,” he said before a training session with the national squad at the Wisma FAM on Monday.
“On top of that, Pahang also have dangerous players like R. Gopinathan, Azamuddin Akil and Dickson Nwakaeme, so I believe they have the edge over JDT.”
Pahang will be looking to emulate Kedah, who were the last team to successfully defend the Malaysia Cup in 2008 when they beat Selangor 3-2.
