Former Ireland Under-21 striker Billy Mehmet has confirmed that he will be playing for Sarawak next season.
Following an exodus of key players including Junior Eldstal and S. Chanturu at the end of the season, Sarawak immediately proceeded to secure the signature of the Kedah hitman, who scored 22 goals in all competitions last season.
Mehmet, who returned from London on Tuesday to finalise the deal, took to his personal Twitter account to express his delight on joining the Crocs, saying: “Happy to have signed with @SarawakCrocs for next season[and] looking forward to a new challenge.”
The London-born forward joined Kedah from I-League side Dempo S.C. a year ago and helped them reach the semi-finals of the 2014 Malaysia Cup, where they lost 6-3 on aggregate to eventual winners Pahang.
He started out his career at West Ham United and his former clubs include Bangkok Glass, Perth Glory, Samsunpor and St. Mirren.
