Nazmi raring to go for Sevilla clash

Selangor's new kid on the block Nazmi Faiz Mansor cannot wait to face Sevilla in an upcoming friendly game.

The 19-year-old midfielder said he was initially surprised when the newly crowned UEFA Europa League champions announced that they will take on the Red Giants at the Shah Alam Stadium on May 26.

"It really surprised me because big European teams that come to our country usually play against a Malaysia Selection side,” he told FourFourTwo Malaysia at the Selangor training ground today.

"But now that we have this rare opportunity, we must take advantage of it to gain experience and grow as a team."

Despite the absence of several key players for the match due to respective World Cup preparations, the Spanish side will still be boasting the likes of former Arsenal winger Jose Antonio Reyes, Liverpool target Alberto Moreno, and Coke, one of Sevilla's penalty shootout heroes in the 2014 UEFA Europa League Final against Benfica.

“It won’t be easy going against them, but I think we can win because we have a good squad," he added.

“I know if we try our best, we will definitely stand a chance to beat Sevilla."

Nazmi, who has yet to make his full debut for Selangor after signing from PKNS last month, hoped that he would get a chance to start in the game.

“I hope I will get to play because it will be a good experience.”

Tickets for the Selangor-Sevilla match are priced at RM20 each and will be available for sale from 3pm onward on May 23 at the Shah Alam Stadium.
