Australian-Malaysian defender Matthew Davies has reportedly joined Pahang as a local player.
20-year-old Davies, who was spotted at the Darul Makmur Stadium after the Elephants defeated Penang 2-0 in the first leg of the Malaysian FA Cup quarter-finals, recently played for Perth Glory in the A-League.
Described on Perth's website as having "maturity on the pitch at right-back", he was a product of the National Training Centre (NTC) programs in Australia.
He made his A-League debut in October 2013 against Melbourne Heart and went on to clock more than 15 appearances for the Australian side.
Davies is the second Australian in recent years to give up his citizenship and take up a Malaysian passport, following in the footsteps of Kelantan midfielder Brendan Gan.
He is also eligible to represent Malaysia including in the upcoming 2015 SEA Games in Singapore.comments
