Ranieri: I believe in Buddhism energy

Did Leicester get some supernatural help in their remarkable title triumph? Manager Ranieri seems to think so…

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri admitted that he believed in the energy of Buddhism, despite being a Christian.

Speaking at a press conference in Thailand, Ranieri spoke highly of his respect for Buddhism after Thai owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha invited Buddhist monks to bless players and staff members at King Power Stadium over the past few years years.

The Foxes have continued to grow since then, as they won promotion to the English top flight in 2014 and staved off relegation in 2015.

This was capped by the arguably the most remarkable title win of all time, as Leicester claimed the English Premier League title in 2016.

“I have respect for the religion, I believe in Buddhism energy,” Ranieri said.

“Good energy is important - this season Leicester received the energies from all over the world because all the world want Leicester to win a title.”

At the same event, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha vowed to help Thailand's national team to qualify for Word Cup final in the next decade.

He is looking to recruit more Thai players to Leicester’s academy system, after achieving his dream of helping Leicester claim the English league title.

“Now we have 16 Thai youth players training with us and these will increase by 16 players every year,” he told the press.

“In the next 10 years we will have 160 players available for national team. Although we can’t guarantee that it will ensure our progression to the World Cup, it is fundamentally the right way to start.”
